About the experience
Freedom is more than a date in history.
For some of us, freedom means choosing our careers, travelling where we want, asking questions, dreaming bigger.
For someone else, freedom might begin with standing inside Rashtrapati Bhavan, seeing the India Gate for the first time, and realising that the world is bigger than the place they grew up in.
This Independence weekend, be someone's guide to that world.
Be A Freedom Guide!
This Independence Day weekend, we're taking children from our Futures of India Initiative beyond the boundaries of the slum neighbourhoods they know.
And we're inviting you to come along—to be a tourist in your city, and also as their Freedom Guide.
Their mother/guardian will also accompany the group to take responsibility for the kids.
Together, we'll explore Delhi's iconic institutions, discover stories of India's democracy and independence, and be curious together.
No labels. No hierarchy. Just a day out, discovering India together.
🗺️ Our Freedom Route
Rashtrapati Bhavan → Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya → India Gate → National War Memorial
Transport between locations is organised as part of the experience.
Lunch and refreshments are not included and will be paid for separately by participants.
We'll pick government canteens and bhawans to keep it affordable for all.
🧒 How does it work?
For every Freedom Guide, one child from our Futures of India Initiative joins you.
Their mother/guardian comes along too.
You don't have to teach them history.
You don't have to know all the answers.
Just be curious together.
Read something.
Explain what you understand.
Ask them what they think.
Let them ask you questions.
Maybe they'll teach you something too.
